Mug with galloping flying phallus
Hand-built mug handle, slip trailing decoration and handpainted underglaze details. Finished with a gloss glaze. Completely one-of-a-kind.
The flying penis of this design is obviously a little odd but this image was actually seen as a symbol of good luck in Roman times. There were also quite a few similar depictions found alongside Síle na Gig’s in Ireland and elsewhere for some bizarre reason.
This piece is made from a professional grade white stoneware clay fired to 1250C. After a bisque fire, decoration was hand painted in a loose style with underglaze, finished with a transparent glossy glaze and fired for a second time.

Holds approx 240ml
This art piece is completely unique and has all of its own curves and bulges and perfect imperfections.
Please note: Best not to put in dishwasher. It will likely be grand but handwash is best.

Inspired and informed by traditional ceramic shapes, but slab, pinch or coil-built to create a modern take on a traditional vessel. Each piece is handmade and bisque-fired, then decorated with loose paintings on each piece to create an original work of art.
