A small hand built teacup with two faces. This cup is decorated with some slip-trailing details and hand-painted. The imagery on this cup was inspired by the paintings of An File/The Poet Mícheál Ó Gaoithín, The Blasket Painter (AKA Peig Sayer’s son). If you haven’t already seen some of his paintings of life on the Blasket Islands I recommend that you do; they’re just brilliant!

I painted a face on each side of the teacup as it reminds me of a doll my Nana used to keep in her cabinet of special things and show me from time to time. It was this odd-looking doll whose head could be twisted around to display another face. I wish I knew what happened to it, but here is a cup version of it!

Please note that this is a handmade art piece and so will have irregularities and a personality that commercial pottery will not. These are not considered defects but rather, they add to the unique character of each piece.

Holds 8 fl oz/ 1 cup of liquid.

This art piece is completely unique and has all of its own curves and bulges and perfect imperfections.

Design
Inspired and informed by traditional ceramic shapes, but slab, pinch or coil-built to create a modern take on a traditional vessel. Each piece is handmade and bisque-fired, then decorated with loose paintings to create an original work of art.
The illustrations are inspired by all sorts.
